Archiving Policy
The Journal of Applied Manufacturing Technology (JAMT) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, integrity, and accessibility of all published scholarly content. This archiving policy is designed to protect academic materials from data loss, preserve the scholarly record, and guarantee continued access for researchers, institutions, and the global academic community.
1. Digital Preservation and Repository Systems
To ensure permanent availability and redundancy of published articles, JAMT implements multiple digital preservation and archiving mechanisms, including:
-
Institutional and Digital Repositories
All published articles may be deposited in institutional and trusted digital repositories to ensure long-term accessibility. -
LOCKSS and CLOCKSS Programs
JAMT participates in the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)preservation initiatives, enabling distributed and secure archiving across multiple geographic locations. -
PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
As an Open Journal Systems (OJS)-based journal, JAMT is integrated with the PKP Preservation Network, providing free and reliable long-term digital preservation services. -
DOI Assignment and Metadata Indexing
Each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and accompanied by standardized metadata to ensure permanent identification, citation, and discoverability.
2. Open Access and Self-Archiving Policy
As a fully open-access journal, JAMT permits authors to self-archive their work in compliance with open science principles. Authors are allowed to:
-
Deposit preprint versions (prior to peer review) in open-access repositories with an appropriate disclaimer.
-
Archive postprint versions (accepted manuscripts after peer review) with proper attribution to the final published article.
-
Share the publisher’s version (final PDF) on personal websites, institutional repositories, or academic networks, provided that full citation details and a direct link to the journal website are included.
3. Content Retention and Access
-
All published articles remain permanently accessible through the JAMT website, affiliated repositories, and indexing services.
-
Article metadata, abstracts, and full-text content will remain retrievable even in the event of journal discontinuation, through preservation in trusted third-party archiving platforms.
4. Content Migration and Format Preservation
To mitigate the risk of technological obsolescence, JAMT adopts proactive digital preservation strategies, including:
-
Storing articles in multiple file formats (e.g., PDF, XML, and HTML) to ensure long-term compatibility.
-
Conducting regular system updates and content migrations to maintain accessibility amid evolving publishing technologies.
5. Policy on Journal Discontinuation
In the unlikely event that JAMT ceases publication, all published content will remain accessible through:
-
Institutional repositories and independent digital archives.
-
Continued availability via LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, and PKP Preservation Network services.
-
Collaboration with scholarly preservation organizations dedicated to maintaining access to discontinued journals.
This archiving policy ensures that all research published in Journal of Applied Manufacturing Technology remains discoverable, citable, and accessible for future generations, supporting the sustainability and integrity of the scholarly record.
